Questions, feedback, or corrections about Ohio Sales Tax Calculator? We'd love to hear from you.
Reporting a wrong county rate
This is the message we most want to receive. Every rate on this site is reconciled against the Ohio Department of Taxation's County Rate Table by ZIP Code, which ODT republishes monthly. The current table was verified on , covers all 88 Ohio counties, and runs from 6.50% to 8.00% combined.
If a figure here disagrees with what you were charged, send us the county, the rate you expected, and where you saw it. County permissive levies and transit-district rates do change between our checks, and a reader-reported discrepancy is the fastest way we find out. We have corrected rates on this basis before and say so on the county page when we do.
What we can and cannot answer
We can help with how a calculator works, why a figure came out the way it did, and whether a rate on this site is current. We are not a CPA firm and cannot give legal or accounting advice, represent you in an audit, or tell you what to put on a return.
Two questions come up constantly and are worth answering here. Vehicle tax follows the county where you register the car, not where you buy it — see the car sales tax calculator. And Ohio’s trade-in credit applies only to a new vehicle bought from alicensed dealer, which is the most common surprise at the title office. For nexus, vendor licences, filing deadlines or an audit, talk to an Ohio CPA.
Security & Data Privacy
Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. The amounts, counties and vehicle prices you type are never sent to us, never stored, and never leave your device — there is no server-side calculation to intercept, which is also why we cannot recover a past calculation for you. The receipt calculator keeps your basket in your own browser's local storage for convenience; clearing site data removes it. We do not sell or share email addresses. See the privacy policy for the full detail.
